U.S. Department of Justice Honors Program

Each fall, the Department of Justice hires law students for entry-level attorney positions through the Attorney General's Honors Program.  This highly competitive program is the only way that the Department hires entry-level attorneys. Selection for employment is based on many elements of a candidate's background, including academic achievement, law review or moot court experience, legal aid and clinical experience, and summer or part-time legal employment.  The Department also considers specialized academic studies (including undergraduate and post-graduate degrees), work experience, and extracurricular activities that directly relate to the work of the Department.  The deadlines and key dates for this year's Program are:

July 31, 2014 – application opens
Sept. 2, 2014 – application deadline

In the past, the rest of the hiring process has taken place over the following time-frame:
Late September  – interview candidates selected
Mid-October – early November – interviews conducted
Late November thru February – offers extended
