USPTO Is Hiring!

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is currently hiring for various positions, including numerous Patent Examiner positions.  While a J.D. is not required to be a Patent Examiner, one is strongly preferred.  You must have a scientific background for these positions, with either a science degree or a minimum level of course work in a given subject area.  They also prefer individuals that have worked in the scientific field to gain some practical experience.  They are specifically seeking individuals with electrical engineering or computer science experience, but they have needs in other scientific areas as well.  These are great entry level positions, providing the ability for lateral mobility within the organization once hired.  Patent Examiners are full time paid employees with some flexibility in schedule and location, though initially the positions are based out of Alexandria, VA.

The USPTO also offers an unpaid internship opportunity for the summer for law students based out of Alexandria, VA.
